As we wrote June 9, the LSU Tigers might lose four-star 2010 QB commit Zach Lee to the Los Angeles Dodgers, which picked him in the first round of this year's Major League Baseball draft.
The Tigers still have a chance to retain Lee, but if the incoming freshman (who has enrolled in summer classes in Baton Rouge) chooses baseball riches over the gridiron, coach Les Miles and his offensive staff need to find a replacement as the team's quarterback of the future behind juniors Jordan Jefferson and Jarrett Lee.
The school has been having trouble in that area so far, as blue-chipper QBs Brett Hundley and Marquise Williams have both cut the Tigers from their respective lists. They are still in the mix for three-star talents Jacoby Brissett and Justin Worley, a pair of tall, strong-armed passers (Brissett is the better athlete -- he's also been compared to former LSU QB JaMarcus Russell). The Tigers would be wise to take long looks at lesser-known homegrown Louisiana products Zack Oliver and Stevie Douglas, both of whom have shown promise throwing the football.
If not, Miles might have to consider trying QB-turned-WR Russell Shepard under center for his senior season.
