Forrest City wide receiver Davyon McKinney, 6-foot-3/190 pounds, knew going into the weekend Arkansas was the place for him. Monday morning, McKinney gives the Razorbacks their ninth commitment of the 2011 class.

“The entire staff up there is great." McKinney told CTH. "They seem like one big family. They’re all really down to earth and care a whole lot about their players. You can tell that they are building a family not just a team.”

McKinney chose the Razorbacks over offers from Ole Miss and Tulsa. With his decision to stay instate the wideout actually will be further from home then had he chose the Rebels. In an earlier interview McKinney planned to make a later announcement.

"I want me and my team to be able to focus on the playoffs and have everything out of the way." McKinney said of the reason for pulling the trigger before planned.

McKinney, who also stars for the Mustang basketball and track teams, is hoping to improve his strength before arriving in Fayetteville. He knows the Razorbacks have the facilites to help him with that.

“The weight room is really nice, one of the best." McKinney said. "I also liked the dorm rooms as well, they were great. Everyone seems so close and they care for each other just like a family.”

McKinney joins the Fayetteville duo of Brandon Allen and Demetrius Dean, Malvern's Grady Ollison, Springdale's Mitch Smothers, and Bentonville's Marcus Danenhauer as instate commitments for the Razorbacks. He is also the second wideout in the 2011 class, joining Illinois pass catcher Keante Minor.
