Hunter Mickelson is one of the top high school basketball players in the country. As of today, he's an Arkansas Razorback.
Mickelson's committment is the second for head coach John Pelphrey for the class of 2011. The 6-foot-10 power forward joins Little Rock Parkview forward Aaron Ross on the Razorback's verbal list.
The Hogs have also offered East Poinsett County point guard Rashad Madden. Those three make up what many consider to be the top class in the state's history.
Mickelson also held offers from Ole Miss, Oklahoma State, Baylor, Wake Forest, and others.
ESPN.com's Reggie Rankin caught Mickelson in action at the Nike Elite Youth Basketball League in Hampton, Va. last month.
"Hunter is a skilled post who's an excellent shot blocker," he said. "He can score facing the basket with range to the arc with time and space.
"Hunter's also very mobile and while he lacks strength right now he has great upside."
Rankin likes what Mickelson will bring to the Hogs in 2011.
"This is an excellent in-state commitment for John Pelphrey and his staff. Hunter will provide the Razorbacks with a versatile and mobile post that will be a match up problem.
"An excellent start for the class of 2011 to go along with Ross. It's a great way to send a message to in-state recruits and out of state schools."
