FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas basketball coach John Pelphrey sees a better future for the Razorbacks' basketball because he says the Hogs will be better outfitted from a personnel and experience standpoint to play his brand of baskeball.

"I really believe I will be able to squeeze next year’s basketball team as a coach harder than any I have had since I have been here," Pelphrey said. "That’s something I am excited to be able to do as a coach. You have got the chance to overachieve."

Pelphrey believes he and his coaching staff will be able to draw more out of the Hogs because the players will have a better idea of the indentity he wants for the team

"There are some basketball teams when you get there with your development and your understanding with who you are," Pelphrey said. " I hope this team is going to reflect us more than any team we have ever had here. The value of doing the right things all the time and the understanding that I got to do it over and over and over. We're getting there. And the understanding that guys who master the fundamentals, do the fundamental things the best; have a commitment to overachieving and that whatever is said, to just do it are the ones who are going to play. I think we have enough experience, and our attitude and character is such that we really have a chance to flourish underneath that."

Pelphrey said character and depth should be strengths for next year's Razorbacks.

"I like our depth and character of our basketball team," Pelphrey said. "I think we are going to be deeper than we ever have been at the guard spot and that is exciting.

"We are going to have the chance with our current players who have had success the chance to improve. Obviouisly, it’s a very important summer from a strength and conditioning standpoint. We have the chance to develop and grow. We are getting better and working hard at it and we are excited about where we have a chance to go."
